The production of cotton swabs is a relatively simple process. It is divided into two main parts: production and packaging

The materials required for packaging are divided into three categories according to the type of packaging: bagged, and boxed, which are divided into round, square, and shaped boxes.

There are plastic, paper, and plastic+paper materials to choose from.

In the production process of cotton swabs, we use mainly skimmed cotton swabs, which are generally measured in grams per meter. 

The size of the sliver is generally measured in grams per meter. For example, the sliver currently used in our machines is between 1g/m and 2.0g/m. The choice of sliver will determine the final size and state of the swab, and of course, the way in which the cotton is handled will also affect the final swab shape. Currently, there are two ways of handling cotton: rolled and shredded. High-speed machines are currently equipped with rolled cotton cutters, representing the following brands: Falu, Stream, Mission, and Forbona.

Choice of production material 2, rods. The rods are the second main material in the production process of cotton swabs. There are four types of rods in circulation1, bamboo rods2, wooden rods3, paper rods4, and plastic rods.

The selection criteria for bamboo and wooden rods are similar, with a good near-round shape and a relatively strong material.

Plastic rods, on the other hand, need to be selected according to their own equipment, the main difference is also in the near-round and strength, strength is determined by two reasons: 1 is the choice of material, the mainstream of plastic rods is based on PP (polypropylene) he has copolymer and homopolymer two options, we prefer to choose copolymer type of PP material, its physical strength will be higher. 2 is the wall thickness, the same outside diameter of the case wall thickness The thicker the wall thickness, the better the physical properties and resistance to deformation.

Paper rods need to examine the production of equipment, at present, there are two types of paper rods straight roll and oblique roll, at present there is no very big difference between the two types of paper rods, only in the production process and the hardness of the product there are some gaps, the cost will also be because of the choice of raw materials (paper) will also have some differences in the price difference.

The choice of production material 3, glue.

 There are many types of glue, but as the swab is to be used on the surface of the body or wound, so there will be a relatively high range of glue requirements, the glue needs to be edible grade glue or use a higher grade of glue. The more commonly used glues on the market today are made from polyvinyl alcohol as the main material, mixed with water in a certain ratio. Depending on the proportion of water added, there are two types of glue, internal glue for cotton forming and external glue for cotton gripping on wooden sticks and bamboo sticks. The proportion of glue also affects to a certain extent the force capacity and appearance of the swab head shape. It is advisable to make the glue according to the proportions provided by the cotton swab machine factory, but it is also possible to adjust the proportions to suit your own needs.
